Since the beginning of the 1980’s we have bred Shetland ponies, and our Stud-name Nords became official 1986. Our aim with the breeding is to have true type, homogeneous and healthy ponies. We breed in a limited scale and choose our ponies carefully.

The interest for horses started early in my family. My father was active with horses both in work and private. He mostly bred Swedish Warm blood and trotters. The first Shetland pony came 1965 to my family. It was a black gelding, Jimmy. He didn’t have a clear pedigree at that time, because in Sweden we started seriously with studbook for the British ponies 1967. Jimmy stayed in our family all his life. Probably it is because of Jimmy where the genuine interest of Shetland ponies began.

Mares

The first breeding mare we had was skewbald Trulsan RS 792 (e Fernando v d Bosrand RS 78) It was with her the interest for breeding started. She was a diploma and went very well on shows. As best she became, Best Shetland Pony (BIR) at Ekeberg 1985-86. Her first foal on the stud was (Nordmarkens) Paddington (sire Package of Marshwood RS 64). He became winner of the class in Kavlinge 1983, and Best In Show at then was the recently imported stallion Highball of Marshwood who was owned by Almnas Stud. Another colt of Trulsan, Nords Totte, became winner of the class and Champion Foal. After that my sister took charge of Trulsan and made her a driving-pony and came on third place in the Swedish Championship in driving 1989.

In the middle of the 1980’s we bought several mares from different bloodlines.

Sassa RS 1121 (sire Dusty v.d Zandsteeg RS 60)  She was a diploma mare, who got a foal Sanna which was exported to Norway 1990, and also got a diploma.

Alma RS 1020 (sire Koert v Stal Olyhof NL-S. 663) was daughter of Goudbloempje van Stal Johanna RS 704 and we got one colt from her, Nords Timmy.

Azalea v.d. Broeksteeg RS 2289 (sire Kasper v Vliek NL-S664) Her best placement was in Vaxjo 1995 when she became winner of the class with 41 points and got top score 10 on top line. She won over the well known mare Willeke v.d kemp RS 1463. The judgers were Mr Broens and Mr Leijzer from Netherlands. She also became mother to one of our stud’s diploma-mares.

Azalea v.d. Broeksteeg also left a mare, Nords Teresa RS 2851 (sire Timothy v. St Geerhoof RS 200), who did very well on shows with gold and became winner of the class several times. Unfortunately Teresa became ill and only got 11 years old. She was mother to four pedigrees, who all had gold on shows. One of them became a licensed stallion, Nords Theodor RS 388, and Vinkelbodas Klara became a diploma mare.

In the late 1980’s the chestnut-mare Goudbloempje van Stal Johanna RS 704 (sire Zadonis v. Papevoort NL-S. 404) came to us, who was a very well breeding mare. Before she came to our stud she had left a licensed stallion, Botvid RS 160, who later was raised to Elit. She also left a couple of diploma-mares, for example Nords Grace RS 3294.

Another well-breeding mare, Jessica van Vliek RS 1463 (sire Coen van Neer NL-S. 525) came to us 1995 from Ytterhalls Stud. She is mother and grandmother to some successful Shetland ponies in Sweden. Her daughter Willeke v.d Kemp RS 1463 (born in The Netherlands) got 47 points at the Shetland Royal Show 1996, in Sweden. Unfortunately she did not get any foals at her time in our Stud.

A younger mare, Furunas Irene RS 4280 (sire Furunäs Fernando RS 258) came to our stud in August 1997. And it is with her that we have reached our aims with the breeding, and keep developing. She has not been at many shows, but on those she has been on she was very successful. For example she got top score 10 on type and has several times been Best in Opposite Sex (BIM) and Champion Filly. In 1999 she became a diploma-mare and the best 3-year old filly in all different pony categories. She is mother to two diploma-mares and one double-gold-diploma mare. Two of her offspring are exported, one to Finland and one to Netherlands.

Stallions

The first stallion 1985 on the Stud was Salmiak RS 191 (sire Jakobin RS 127) from Appelbo Stud. He was later exported to Finland in 1986.

1989 Glantans Jonglor RS 225 (sire Annelunds Dukat RS 190) came to us. He was bought from Ytterhalls Stud, which in their turn bought him from Glantans Stud where he was licensed. He was in our stud until 1995, when he was sold to Kyllemos Stud. During the time he was in our stud he became father to two diploma-mares, Nords Grace and Nords Annie. He was also shown and became as best Best In Show at Ekeberg 1993.

Next stallion who came to us was Flagg RS 85 (sire Trim of Marshwood) who was owned by Osten Ljungar, at that time. Flagg had bloodlines from Marshwood, Transy and the Harviestoun Stud. This was very interesting for our Stud. On our Stud he left for example the licensed stallion Nords Theodor RS 388. He was at our place 1993 and 1996-97.

1998-99 we had Furunas Fernando RS 258 (sire Rosafir of Transy RS 61) in the Stud. The owner at that time was Furunas Stud. He precedes the well-breeding Swedish P-line as we call it in Sweden, who started with Harviestoun Priscilla RS 7. Fernando became during his time in our stud father to Nords Tubbs who received 41 points and became Champion Foal in Boras 1999.

Next stallion was Appelbo Triton RS 342 (sire Wessel v.d Amstelhof RS 2359). He gave our Stud bloodlines from the famous Rosson of Transy NL-S.596 and bloodlines from the Transy and Marshwood Studs. At Tritons time on our Stud he became father to, for example, the diploma-mare Nords Inka RS 5390 who became Best In Show-foal 2001 and Champion filly 2002.

Furunas Jotex RS 378 (sire Furunas Fernando RS 258) was bought to the Stud when he was 1-year old 1998, because we thought that he could develop very well. He also, just as his father, preceded the well-breeding P-line from Furunas Stud. During his time at the Stud he was shown at the stallion assessments where he got his license. He also became Champion Stallion, Best in Opposite Sex (BIM), Best In Show and Swedish Show Champion (SUCH) during the time we owned him. Two of his daughters from the Stud are diploma-mares;Nords Ibiza and Nords Indra (double-gold-diploma). Furunas Jotex was sold 2005 to Junibackens Stud.

Kennel

Our kennel-name Poo-Poo-Pi-Do’s was approved by FCI 2005. We have a small breeding of healthy and true type Australian Terriers.
It was at 2002 that we bought our first “Aussie”, and she came straight into our hearts with her wonderful temperament.
It was the blue and tan coloured bitch Nellyson’s Catinka Carry-Cot, called “Molly”. She comes from Nellysons Kennel, and has got three litters.
